I’m Janika, a licensed therapist with a background in education and more than a decade of experience supporting people through change, stress, and transition. I have spent over ten years helping clients in high-pressure roles navigate emotional demands and major life transitions. Many of the clients I work with are skilled problem solvers in their careers, yet they often find it harder to sit with their own emotions or ask for support in their personal lives.

My focus is on providing virtual therapy in Texas for high-functioning professionals, entrepreneurs, and gifted adults who feel disconnected beneath the surface. I specialize in burnout recovery, therapy for perfectionism, and high-functioning anxiety, as well as EMDR therapy in Texas for trauma. For clients who desire it, I also offer Christian counseling for anxiety and burnout.

This work is about more than just coping. It is about reconnecting with who you are beneath all the roles you have had to play. You do not need to do more. You need space to be. That is what this space is for.

Do you accept insurance?

I don’t bill insurance directly. Poplar Belief Therapy is a self-pay practice, which allows me to offer focused, personalized care without the constraints often placed by insurance panels. This means we can prioritize your goals, not just what’s covered.
If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be able to request partial reimbursement from your insurance provider. I’m happy to provide a superbill upon request. Sessions are $150 for a 55-minute session.




 



Who Is This For?

This practice is for high-functioning professionals, deep thinkers, and capable, driven individuals who still feel stuck in certain areas of their emotional life. You might excel in your career, support others with ease, or seem like you have it all together. But privately, you may be feeling burned out, disconnected, or unsure how to process everything you are carrying.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. All sessions are currently offered as online therapy in Texas, giving you the flexibility to show up from wherever you feel most grounded. No traffic. No rushing. No commute. Just space to focus on you. In-person sessions will be available in the Houston area in the future.

How often should I come to therapy?

That depends on you. I take a client centered approach, which means we’ll work together to find a rhythm that fits your life and your goals.
That said, I typically recommend starting with weekly sessions. Consistency in the beginning helps build connection, safety, and momentum. Over time, we can adjust based on your needs, your schedule, and how the work is unfolding.

What can I expect in the first session?

Our first session is low pressure and focused on connection. This is your time to start telling your story in a way that feels natural and safe. I’ll ask some questions to get a sense of your history and what’s bringing you in, but there’s no script and no rush. If you’re ready to dive right in, we can do that. If you need to ease in slowly, we’ll do that too. As a client centered therapist, I’ll guide the session based on what I pick up from you. That includes your energy, your comfort level, and your readiness. This is your space, and we’ll move at your pace.

What kind of therapy do you offer?

I currently offer individual therapy for adults, all done virtually across Texas. Clients come to me for support with stress, burnout, trauma recovery, emotional regulation, and personal growth. I also offer EMDR for professionals who feel stuck or overwhelmed and want to move through deeper emotional patterns.
